Installing a dash cover without cracking anything
Printed parts install fine. Printed parts installed with an impact driver do not.
Sequence first. Seat the cover dry with no fasteners and confirm it sits flat on all four corners. If one corner lifts, the dash has a high spot — find it now, not after you have preloaded a bolt against it. A cover torqued down over a rock is a cover that cracks on the third ride.
Then run every fastener finger-tight, all of them, before you tighten anything. This is the same rule as a cylinder head or a wheel: partial tightening in a star pattern keeps the part from being pulled crooked.
Torque spec is 1.2 Nm on M4, 2.0 Nm on M5, 3.5 Nm on M6. That is hand-tight with a short driver and a light wrist — genuinely less than you think. PA-CF threads bosses well but it is still plastic, and the fastener's job is to hold position, not to compress the part. Leave the impact in the toolbox.
Last thing: check the fasteners after your first ride. Everything on a UTV backs off once as it settles. One re-check at 1.2 Nm and you will not think about it again.
